| Delta Girls Stories of Sisterhood: Foreward
I read with joy the
stories in this wonderful anthology. Congratulations Linda E. Moye. In
this celebration of sisterhood you have captured the thoughts and
feelings of our sisters in an insightful and creative way. Thanks for
sharing their experiences.
This collaborative work clearly illustrates that sisterhood is at the
very core of Delta Sigma Theta. Sisterhood leaps from the pages in a fun
but sincere way. The support of sisters has had a major impact on my
life. To be accepted by ones' peers, in this instance my sisters, is an
awesome experience. To know there are women with common goals, tied
together by a common bond is a very special feeling.
Sisterhood is our foundation, it is the one constant in an ever
evolving, growing, and maturing organization of outstanding women;
African Americans have historically shared our past through story
tellers. This book of stories not only tells of the past but also
transcends time. These stories will allow those who seek a better
understanding of “Delta Girls” a true glimpse at who we are and what
binds us together. As well, it will give those women aspiring to be
“Delta Girls” much to look forward to in their future.
Congratulations Linda and to all who had a role in this successful
effort. Thank you for showcasing the talents of so many in such an
inspirational way.It is with great pride and sisterly affection that I present this
foreword for this outstanding project. I hope you will make time to read
this collection. Enjoy the journey.
The Honorable Marcia L. Fudge Mayor of Warrensville Heights, OH
